| Grandpa Tells the Story Tell us about your old days Paw Paw All the children cried About your ranches and the rodeos And the wild horses you used to ride A smile came cross the old man's heart As he began to relate About pushing cattle, roping steers And wandering from state to state There was the silver studded saddle in Reno Then the bronco that bone six of his bones Some of them hard times in Guthrie and Dallas When the applause was all he took home The he said he wanted to tell one last story That happened so very long ago In a far off time and place A story, they all should know There was a man that they tried there Strung him up and nailed him to a tree On a hill they called the skull With two men who were thieves He was Jesus, the son of GOD The same GOD to whom we all pray And on the afternoon they killed him It began black as night in the middle of the day A few grandchildren became scared He told them to sit on his chair This ain't no horror story he assured As he drew them close to him there Now after they had killed him They laid him in a dark cave Blocked the door with a huge boulder Then put soldiers outside to guard the grave But GOD so loved his only begotten son He gave him back his life after three days Yep, he sent them Roman soldiers a packin' And Mary found the stone had been rolled away Then Jesus found his followers out fishing He said I have something to say I want you to go to all parts of the world And tell the story everyday Tell them of the Father's love The reason I died on the tree So they could live in heaven forever Because I want them to be with me Now, it’s because I love you I wanted you all to know That Jesus died for us all So to heaven we can go Ron Secoy |
