Wannabe

Lord, I ain’t no cowboy but I wanna be
If it’s in Your plan could You make a cowboy outta me?
My life hasn’t been about the things cowboys do
It could be though, it’s all up to You

I ain’t never rode a horse or roped a steer
Don’t own no cattle or have any trail gear
When I don a Stetson or pull on a pair of boots
I wish that Texas or Oklahoma were in my roots

Couldn’t I have been raised on a ranch on the prairie
Taught to ride and rope at an age that was early
I know nothing about saddles, bridles or knives
I wasn’t born to that cowboy way of life

I want to ride Your range from dawn to dusk
Live out that cowboy motto of in GOD we trust
Let that cowboy spirit that’s independent, wild and free
Be guided by the Holy Spirit down the trail laid out for me

Ride, rope and gather those who believe in the Way
Leave the ninety and nine, find the one who has gone astray
To have no fear in the midst of the stampede
With faith and truth for my mighty steed

Ain’t looking for no credit in this life’s rodeo
Glory and praise belong to only to You, don’t you know
But in this life if a cowboy I’ll never be
Maybe in heaven, you’ll make a cowboy outta me
